Johnson County Development Services describes its job as issuing Development Permits for any new development, including mobile homes, before construction begins in the unincorporated areas. The same office runs on-site sewage facility permits, floodplain applications, road bore and pipeline permits, and subdivision review. Applications are taken as PDFs by email at [email protected]. The county publishes both a Residential Development Permit and a Commercial Development Permit.
The county's page states the requirement in general terms and does not name a carport, a pre-built structure or Chapter 233. It does not say what the county cannot regulate. Ask which of the two development permit forms applies to a delivered building before you set a delivery date.
